The Day Christmas Disappeared from Evergreen Town
Author(s):
Tim Kelly
In Evergreen Town everyone loves Christmas-except for Mayor Skinflint Meanie. When he was a boy, he wanted a red toy truck, but the town's annual Christmas party ran out. All Skinflint got was a pair of lime-colored socks and a clip-on bow tie. He vowed he would have his revenge one day. He's doing it by removing the 25th of December from the town calendar. Anyone who celebrates a day that doesn't exist will be locked up as a lunatic. It's a pretty hectic time for the townspeople. The villainous mayor even locks up his big sister in the attic so she can't spoil his nasty plans. How the mayor eventually gets the toy truck and Christmas is returned to Evergreen Town makes this a warm, magical and very funny play, brimming over with holiday spirit.
